Janos Szanyi wins Fulbright Fellowship to conduct catalytic research in Hungary

(April 2009)

Congratulations to Dr. Janos Szanyi at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on receiving a Fulbright Fellowship to spend 5 months in Hungary studying catalysts that may reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from cars and trucks. The Fulbright Fellowship is sponsored by the U.S. State Department. The fellowship provides opportunities for U.S. scientists to conduct research and exchange ideas with their new international colleagues.

During his stay in Budapest, Hungary, Janos will conduct in situ and operando studies aimed at understanding the kinetics and mechanisms of chemical reactions catalyzed by supported platinum/barium oxide systems. He will work at the Chemical Research Center, operated by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. In addition, he will continue to lead his research at PNNL's Institute for Interfacial Catalysis.
